Jeffrey Bellemare was killed on Thanksgiving night,
November 29, 2013. His case remains unsolved.
In our very busy world, it can be easy to overlook the work of security guards. In our rush to get in and out of places for meetings, appointments and visits, we may forget that these men and women serve as our first line of defense.
Their work is dangerous and sometimes they pay the ultimate price.
On Thanksgiving night, November 29, 2013, Jeffrey Bellemare, a 59-year old security guard, said goodbye to his family. He kissed and hugged his wife and left for his overnight security patrol at the Graybriar Apartments (3810 North Maryvale Parkway) in Phoenix, Arizona.
At 1:30 a.m. 2 unknown assailants confronted Bellemare while he worked. Bellemare was shot with a .40 caliber weapon and died minutes later. The motive for the crime remains unknown. According to witness reports, the 2 suspects, a man and a woman, were seen running away from the apartment complex and fleeing in a older model sedan with a vinyl top and possible front end damage.
